New Delhi:

The Supreme Court on Monday took suo motu cognizance of a petition to stop the conversions being done by intimidation, allurement or resorting to black magic and superstition in various states of the country.

Petitioner Ashwini Upadhyay's petition has been converted into suo motu cognizance.

The Supreme Court asked AG R Venkataramani to act as amix or assist in any way in the case.

Now the Supreme Court will hear the entire case on February 7.

Along with this, the Supreme Court warned the Tamil Nadu government's lawyer in the whole matter.

The court said that politics should not be dragged into this matter.

This is not just a matter of one state.

Religious conversion is a serious issue.

We will consider this issue.
