This year there are 902 230 works were registered and 230 were selected. Today, the 17th final was held at Dayuan International High School. 236 finalists were invited to compete on the spot on the theme of the final. 10 people, including local calligraphers and scholars from the calligraphy and painting department of colleges and universities, served as judges Members, 138 people won the awards after a fierce final selection, among which Wang Siyun from the junior college group, Zhang Funan from the evergreen group, Ye Xiuhong and Li Huanghan from the social group won the first prize in the three groups, and each won the highest prize of 30,000 yuan.

Wang Lijuan, deputy director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau and acting director of the Municipal Art Museum, said that the Taoyuan National Spring Festival Couplets Calligraphy Competition, with a total prize of 520,000 yuan, has attracted more than 10,000 participants since its inception in 2003. The final judging team is strong, and Zhang Muxi, a famous calligrapher, is invited , Xie Jiyun, Li Yuzhou, Huang Zongyi, Huang Caisong, Li Xiuhua, Li Xianzhuan, Zhu Shuxuan, Jian Yuejuan, Cai Jieteng and other jury members joined the selection. Wang mentioned that this year's competition is divided into nine groups: New Residents, Elementary School Juniors, Elementary School Seniors, Junior High Schools, Senior Vocational Seniors, Junior Colleges, Evergreen, Social and Creative Spring Festival Couplets, among which the "New Residents Group" is even more Attract friends from Germany, Sweden, Malaysia, Japan, China and other places to participate, show the cross-border and cross-cultural characteristics of the calligraphy of Taoyuan, the capital of the country, and set up a "creative Spring Festival couplet group", breaking the traditional competition rules. Wang said that the contestants included all age groups, showing the spirit of fun for all ages in calligraphy. The youngest is only 7 years old, and the oldest is 83 years old. Wang Siyun, who lives in New Taipei City, said that he has followed and participated in the Taoyuan National Spring Festival Couplets Calligraphy Competition since elementary school. Although he has won awards every year, he won the first prize this year. He is very happy to add a scholarship for himself; Ayushi Nakamura, a Japanese woman, graduated from a Japanese calligraphy university. After she married and came to Taiwan six years ago, she opened a calligraphy classroom in Pingzhen District to guide Japanese people in Taiwan to learn calligraphy.

The contestants participating in the "New Residents Group" are from Japan, China, Germany, Sweden, Malaysia and other places. They have been in Taiwan for at least 5 years, and they all have good handwriting.
