On January 7, despite the "Christmas truce" announced by the dictator of the Russian Federation, Vladimir

Putin

, the Russian occupation forces fired at the UN humanitarian mission, which was carrying aid to the front-line town of Orihiv, Zaporizhzhia region.

Oleksandr Starukh, the head of Zaporizhzhya OVA, told about this during the telethon.

Starukh emphasized that the Russians continue to violate the rules of warfare, the declared "agreement" and to attack communities.

"Despite the enemy's promise to cease fire for the holiday, the UN mission that delivered humanitarian aid to Orihiv came under fire. The occupier continues to disregard the rules of warfare and raid communities," said Starukh.

It is noted that Denise Brown, the UN coordinator in Ukraine, was also part of the mission.

According to Starukh, the front-line town of Orihiv regularly suffers from shelling by the occupiers.

The head of the region called Russia an "Orthodox Taliban" that disregards all the rules of human coexistence.

"Russia is an 'Orthodox Taliban' that does not understand anything sacred and disregards all the rules of human coexistence," he concluded.

How Russia declared a "Christmas truce" and broke it herself

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, who started a large-scale war against Ukraine, on January 5

In 2023, he ordered his

military to cease fire

along the entire line of conflict between the parties in Ukraine on Christmas Day.

The Kremlin appealed to the Ukrainian side to also announce a ceasefire for the holidays.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the "ceasefire in Ukraine" was supposed to last from 12:00 on January 6 to midnight on January 7.

However, the Russians ignored this, traditionally, and expectedly accused Ukraine of not observing the "ceasefire" regime on Christmas.

The General Staff stated that on January 7, during the so-called "ceasefire regime" announced by the Kremlin, the

Russian occupiers continued to shell the positions of our units with tanks, mortars and barrel artillery.

Head of State Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia, by shelling positions of the Ukrainian military during their "Christmas truce",

once again showed the world its lying nature.

Only Gulyaipole in Zaporozhye was shelled 220 times

by the occupiers during the "truce"  .

In Zaporizhzhia late in the evening on January 7,

during the so-called Putin "truce", the sounds of explosions were heard.

Ukrainian authorities and experts have warned that this "ceasefire" is necessary for the enemy only to take a break from the war and regroup forces.
