The self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko, can at any time announce mobilization and join Russia's war against Ukraine.

The former Minister of Culture of Belarus, opposition politician Pavlo Latushko stated this in an interview with the German publication RND.

"

The registration of all conscripts in Belarus is almost complete

," the politician said.

He is convinced that the Belarusian dictator only needs to push a button on orders from the Kremlin to start mobilizing.

Latushko also said that according to his sources in Minsk,

almost all the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country were asked to hand over their passports

.

The same data came from different cities of Belarus.

"This means that these people will no longer be able to leave the territory of Belarus in case of their mobilization," the oppositionist pointed out.

In the context of mobilization, the politician emphasized the constant growth of the Russian military presence in Belarus: both manpower and equipment.

Latushko also stated about the "strategic mistake" of the West, which has not paid attention to Lukashenka for six months: "No new sanctions are being introduced, no pressure is being exerted."

According to the ex-minister, the self-proclaimed president will thus gain time to

prepare to participate in the offensive against Ukraine

 from the north.

The publication recalled that in mid-October 2022, Latushko announced a possible attack on Ukraine from Belarus in the spring of 2023 (perhaps in March).

The politician voiced the information that by that time the Russians want to deploy 120,000 soldiers in Belarus.

The oppositionist said that Lukashenko wants to try to increase the size of his army from 65 to 100 thousand soldiers by the spring of 2023.

At the same time, according to Latushka,

about 85% of Belarusians oppose the war

, so the mobilization may become a trigger for new mass protests.

Mobilization in Belarus is possible

We will remind you that a few days ago, a video from Belarus appeared on the Internet, showing how men of draft age are called to military commissariats "to clarify their credentials" due to an announcement at the train station.

It should be noted that as early as mid-December 2022, the retired colonel of the British army, military expert Glen Grant informed that Russia in Belarus is actually conducting a certain form of mobilization, within which men must register for the military, and they are trying to prevent them from leaving the country in every way.

In particular, it is known that in November 2022 in the Belarusian city of Baranovichi, the Military Commissariat summoned all conscripts for a "planned check" of their credentials on behalf of Lukashenka.
