In the town of Trastenik, municipality of Dolna Mitropolia, they observed the tradition for St. John's Day and recreated the ritual "Korava kobila", characteristic of this settlement in the Pleven region. 

According to custom, on the night before St. John's Day, the so-called

teams of "steep mares" tour the homes of the namesakes to bring them health and prosperity in the new year. 

In Pavlikensko, they recreate the "Ivanovi vlachugi" ritual

"The final part of the celebration this year took place on the square of Trastenik, where the teams participated in a competition for the most authentic recreation of the custom," Galya Kucheva, secretary of the local community center "Neofit Rilski - 1872", told BTA. 

The team "Ivayla" with driver Evlogi Trifonov was ranked first this year.

Special prizes were awarded to the mare "Ivka - Shastlivka" of the kindergarten "Happy Childhood" with guide Ivalin Ivanov and to "Iva" of the young people from the "Save the Bulgarian" club at the "Evlogi Georgiev" Secondary School in the city.

"For us, it is very important that children and young people participate in this custom, so that it is preserved and preserved for future generations," emphasized Kucheva. 

The prizes for the participants in the ritual are provided by the Municipality of Dolna Mitropolia and companies - sponsors.
