The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) drew up an act, 11 prescriptions and directed meat and meat products to be destroyed during inspections at the beginning of the winter tourist season.

This was announced by the BBAH press center, BTA reported.

In the period from December 12 to 31, 2022, inspectors from the "Food Control" departments in the regional directorates in Sofia-city, Sofia-region, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan have carried out 276 extraordinary inspections in the resorts in these areas.

For the non-conformities found during the inspections, 11 prescriptions were issued for non-conformities in building stock and technological equipment, failure to provide evidence of samples taken and food analysis by self-control.

An act was drawn up to establish an administrative violation for offering food with an expired shelf life, 9 kg and 300 grams of meat and meat products were confiscated and directed for destruction, for which documents of origin and shelf life were not presented.

Inspections have established that, in general, hygiene requirements are observed in the supply and trade of food.

The storage conditions have been met, and the foods are within their shelf life and are labeled according to current legislation.

The enhanced control of the BABH in the winter resorts will continue until March 10, 2023 inclusive.

During the Christmas and New Year holidays, the BABH carried out 1,658 extraordinary inspections, outside of the current control, of establishments for wholesale and retail trade in food, manufacturing enterprises, catering establishments, markets and exchanges.

The holiday inspections covered the period from December 21, 2022 to January 2, 2023. Due to established inconsistencies, 122 kg of food of animal and non-animal origin with an expired expiration date, without accompanying documents or unregulated food trade in facilities were prohibited and sent for destruction. without registration.
