WATER MINISTER Jumaa Aweso has continued to fire at the Managers of the Clean Water and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA), Morogoro Region, after ordering two others to be returned to the ministry due to their failure to professionally manage the implementation of rural water projects.

Aweso has had to return to the ministry the Manager of Ruwasa Region of Morogoro, Engineer John Msengi as well as the Manager of Kilombero District, Engineer Florence Mlelwa due to their failure to manage the implementation of water projects.

While in Kilosa district, Minister Aweso instructed Ruwasa Headquarters to assign Engineer Joshi Chum another job, after he was not satisfied with his performance in managing water projects in Ruaha District, a small town in Mikumi.

Minister Aweso made the decision on January 6, 2023 at a public meeting in the town of Mlimba, Kilombero District, after being dissatisfied with the responses of Ruwasa Engineers in Kilombero District as well as those of the region on the implementation of the water project in Kalengakero District.

The water project in the ward has been allocated Sh 282 million along with the water project of Mlimba Town which has been allocated Sh 600 million.

Minister Aweso has also dissolved the Mlimba Water Board and ordered the creation of the Mlimba water authority, which will be able to serve the people of the town, which is the headquarters of the Mlimba council.

"It is impossible for me to leave the ministry and come to solve the water challenges of the people of Morogoro, when the relevant authorities are there, everyone must be responsible for their position, you can't, you have to appoint other people who are more responsible," said Aweso.

Minister Aweso was surprised by Kilombero District Manager Ruwasa's failure to spend Shs 600 million, which the government has provided several months ago for the implementation of water projects in the district, to eliminate water problems for the people and implement the President's order to put a bucket on the head.

"If the money had been used as it was intended, right now my mothers and sisters would not be shouting, but would have spent their time well, instead of going out at night to find water," said Aweso.
