Advisor to the President's Office, Oleksiy Arestovych, explained the purpose of the attacks by Russian troops, who are storming Soledar, Donetsk region, with heavy losses.

He spoke about this in a conversation with Russian blogger and human rights defender Mark Feigin.

According to him, the occupiers are trying to cut off Soledar from Bakhmut and cut the Soledar-Slovyansk road.

"So they are advancing with two "tongues".

They are progressing clearly as, I think, everyone has already seen the picture.

They achieve some individual successes due to "suicide bombers" attacks.

To assure that Soledar will not be taken, I do not know, they may take it, they may not take it.

Bakhmut will definitely not be taken," said Arestovych.

The Russian army does not control the city.
