[Instant News/Comprehensive Report] The U.S. government offered a huge reward. Ovidio Guzmán-López, the son of Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman (Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman), was arrested after half a year of police deployment.

This action triggered riots by local gang members and clashes with security forces, resulting in the death of three security personnel.

"BBC" reported that the Mexican police arrested Ovidio in Sinaloa after a six-month surveillance operation.

The raid sparked fury from gangs who set up roadblocks, burned vehicles and even attacked the local airport.

A flight that was about to take off was affected, and more than 100 flights were canceled at the three airports in Sinaloa.

An Air Force aircraft in Culiacan was also hit, Mexico's civil aviation agency said.

Mayor Ruben Rocha Moya confirmed on Twitter that federal special forces had been operating since early Thursday morning local time, and parts of the city were cordoned off, urging people to stay at home.

The report mentioned that security forces and gang members exchanged fire until noon.

Many shops were looted and all schools in Sinaloa were closed until Friday.

The Mexican police captured Ovidio in 2019, but had to go back to avoid threats of violence from his men.

The United States issued a reward order in December last year, giving a reward of up to $5 million to those who provided information that led to the arrest or conviction of Ovidio and three other brothers. This action also coincides with the visit of US President Biden to Mexico next week. Achieved on the eve of participating in the North American Leadership Summit.
