WATER MINISTER Jumaa Aweso has suspended the Manager of the Rural Water and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) Kilosa District, Engineer Josh Chumu.

Aweso has suspended Chumu following complaints from the people of Ruaha Ward, who have claimed that he has failed to properly manage water projects in Kilosa District and caused delays in projects, despite the government allocating more than 4 billion shillings for the implementation of water projects in Ruaha and poor management of water user communities.

He made the decision in continuation of his visit to visit and inspect water projects, where after arriving in Mikumi State, he received many complaints and concerns from citizens.

The citizens complained of long-term water scarcity, despite their areas being surrounded by many sources of water, including the Udzungwa mountains and rivers.

Minister Aweso has also asked the Ruwasa Regional Manager of Morogoro to apologize to the people of Kilosa District for failing to properly manage the water projects in his region and to give specific instructions to the contractor for the Ruaha Water Project to be completed as soon as possible and within the month of January he should have laid the pipes.
