On one of the largest online language learning platforms, 1,300,000 people have started learning Ukrainian.

According to the BBC, the study of Ukrainian has increased by 1500 percent over the past six months in Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

And in Britain it rose from 37th to 17th place among other languages.

One of the most popular universities in the world - Oxford even invited our teacher from Kherson to teach, TSN reports.

Alex - native British - has neither Ukrainian roots nor relatives in Ukraine, but is actively learning the Ukrainian language.

His entire home near Oxford reminds of Ukraine - everywhere are flags, ornaments and even the screensaver on his phone.

And on the table, he says, most often cabbage rolls.

"I was inspired by the Revolution of Dignity in 2013, I had to start teaching even then.

And now, with the new invasion on the 24th, I wanted to learn the language so that one day I could go to Ukraine," Alex says.

Fortunately for him, a real Ukrainian teacher, Inna Sopronchuk from Kherson, settled in his British home.

"I have been teaching Ukrainian as a foreigner for 6 years," she says.

She lived under occupation for a month, then was able to leave.

Her husband went to war to defend Ukraine, and Inna decided to popularize the Ukrainian language in the world.

"I made a mailing list among British universities, where I offered them to teach my course, and Oxford responded and said, please come, we are interested," Inna shares.

Soon, a whole group of students is waiting for her, which has gathered surprisingly quickly.

And if earlier, according to statistics, only those who had roots studied Ukrainian in order to reunite with their relatives, now these are people who have nothing to do with Ukraine.

A whole group of Britons.

"Of course you have to start with the alphabet.

Let's move on to basic words and phrases - hello, good morning, good afternoon.

They already know many of these phrases, like good evening, we are from Ukraine," the teacher says.

Cases are the most difficult.

"They are like that - why was there a girlfriend, and here are friends?" - adds Inna.

It has already become a trend in social networks, when people from other countries show off their success in learning Ukrainian - like Adelina from Kazakhstan, or Mark from America, as well as Orielen from France, as well as Ricochan from Japan and Jessica from Canada.

The fastest, in Inna's practice, a person became fluent in three months of intensive study.

Inna says that it is easiest for foreigners to remember cards with pictures and then it is reinforced with words.

He advises Ukrainians from British families to say what it is when picking up an object.

Then there will be one hundred percent memorization.

"My favorite phrase is death to enemies.

I really like how it rolls off the tongue," laughs one of the students.
