In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, the Minister of Defense ordered a ceasefire for 36 hours from 12:00 on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7 along the entire line of combat contact between the parties in Ukraine, said the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Putin ordered a two-day ceasefire in Ukraine

The adviser to the Ukrainian president, Mykhailo Podolyak, described today as hypocrisy the ceasefire announced by the Russian side in Ukraine on the occasion of the Orthodox Christmas and accused Moscow of wanting to buy time, reported AFP and Reuters.

Russia must leave the occupied territories and only then will there be a "temporary truce".

"Save your hypocrisy," wrote Podoliak on Twitter.

First.

Ukraine doesn't attack foreign territory & doesn't kill civilians.

As RF does.

Ukraine destroys only members of the occupation army on its territory...

Second.

RF must leave the occupied territories - only then will it have a "temporary truce".

Keep hypocrisy to yourself.

In a separate press release, Podoliak condemned the ceasefire ordered by Russian President Putin as a "purely propaganda gesture", BTA notes.
