The administration of US President Joe Biden excludes sending Abrams battle tanks to Ukraine due to technical reasons.
The Washington Post writes about it.
The publication writes that one tank weighs 55 tons and has a turbine engine that consumes fuel at an incredible speed.
In addition, this technique often breaks down and requires extensive maintenance experience.
These battle tanks are so heavy that former US President Trump was even refused to include them in the celebration of Independence Day on July 4, 2019 in Washington.
For example, the steel tracks of the tank will damage the pavement of city streets.
Abrams then remained on the "static podium", and a Bradley tank stood next to Trump during his speech.
It should be noted that technically, the Bradley is not a tank, but it will be able to significantly modernize the Ukrainian ground forces.
It weighs about 28 tons and moves on tracks similar to a tank.
This vehicle carries a crew of three, which can additionally accommodate up to six soldiers.
Although the Bradley lacks the firepower of the 120 mm "main gun" mounted on the Abrams, it is equipped with heavy armor and a number of other weapons, including a 25 mm chain gun and an M240 machine gun.
It is rated for speeds of up to 35 miles per hour, which is quite a lot compared to the Abrams.
The publication writes that the United States has thousands of such vehicles, so sending an unspecified number to Ukraine will not lead to a reduction in stocks in the United States.
It will be recalled that France announced that it would transfer Bastion armored personnel carriers and AMX-10RC wheeled tanks to Ukraine.
According to Politico, Zelensky called on Washington to supply modern tanks and aircraft to Ukraine, but Biden remained adamant.
At the same time, Ukraine's ambassador to Germany, Oleksiy Makeev, is sure that sooner or later Berlin will hand over Leopard 2 battle tanks to Kyiv.
