The conclusion of an agreement between Turkey and Bulgaria and access to their LNG terminals is a good move.

It concerns a capacity of one billion and a half cubic meters per year for a period of 13 years.

However, this is only transfer capacity, not actual gas quantities.

This was stated at a media briefing by the MP from "We continue the change

Kiril Petkov and Asen Vasilev presented their political project "We continue the change" Vasil Stefanov, discussing the agreement signed yesterday in Sofia between the Bulgarian state gas company Bulgargaz and the Turkish state energy company Botaş (BOTAŞ) for access to the liquefied gas terminals ( LNG) and the gas transmission network in Turkey.

He posed questions to which he said he still had no answers: "First, why was the agreement for this interconnection between Turkey and Bulgaria signed by Burlgargaz and not by Bulgartransgaz?"

Does this mean that an unapproved contract has been reached by Bulgargaz for 13 years, and at what price?

And another thing - what happened to the Bulggargaz tender for natural gas supplies for 2023, the results of which were supposed to be announced in December 2022?"

"And the most important question - is there anything in common with the conclusion of the agreement between Turkey and Bulgaria to redirect gas from the suspended Nord Stream 1 and 2 to Turkey and thus create a gas hub in Turkey?"

Did "Bulgargaz" contract quantities of gas to enter from Turkey, but their origin is Turkish?", he continued.

"We have achieved real diversification of natural gas through the interconnector in Greece with cheap Azeri gas," he recalled.

In his words, purely due to timing, this agreement was concluded exactly three days after the end of Bulgaria's long-term contract with Gazprom Export: "The same one who unilaterally suspended gas supplies and proved to be an unreliable supplier."

"We still don't have an answer to these questions, the Minister of Energy has only been on blitz control once, that's why we submitted a request for a hearing to get answers to these questions," he added.
