Over 200 survakars, mask makers and folk dance ensemble "Horo" will for the second year in a row present the "Surva" festival in Borisova Garden.

The event will take place on January 8, Sunday, at 12:00, reported the press center of the Metropolitan Municipality.

The gorge will start from Lake "Ariana" and will continue to the specially built open-air stage in Borisova gradina (the place of park-theatre "Borisova gradina").

The festival will feature a survakar group at the "Krüger Nikolov - 1922" People's Community Center, village of Peshtera, municipality of Zemen;

survakar group at the People's Community Center "Hristo Botev - 1928", Kopanitsa village, Radomir municipality;

survakar group Svetlya village, Kovachevtsi municipality;

survakar group at the People's Community Center "Probuda - 1935."

from "Bela Voda" district - Pernik;

survakar group from Sadovik village, Breznik municipality;

survakar group of the village of Kosharevo, municipality of Breznik and folk dance ensemble "Horo" of the Municipal Youth Center - Pernik. 

The "Surva" festival turned 55 years old

A culinary exhibition will also be presented during the festival.

The visit of "Surva" in Sofia is part of the Cultural Events Calendar of Sofia Municipality.

The masquerade ritual is traditionally performed every year in Pernik and the surrounding villages. 

The international festival "Surva" in Pernik has over 57 years of history and is the largest masquerade forum in the Balkans.

The festival has been organized by the Municipality of Pernik since 1966. In 2015, the national holiday "Surva" was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
