This was stated by the spokesperson of the US State Department, Ned Price, - writes Ukrinform.

"Russia should leave the nuclear power plant and return it to the control of Ukraine," the representative of the American agency emphasized.

The United States of America supports any efforts that promote stability and reduce threats to the integrity of nuclear power plants, recalling the activities of the IAEA in Ukraine.

It is also important to return full control over the operation of the NPP to the Ukrainian authorities in order to avoid a catastrophic nuclear incident.

"ZNPP and its energy belong to Ukraine.

Russia's seizure of the plant, as well as abuse of Ukrainian civilian operators, create enormous instability and dangerous conditions at this nuclear power plant," the spokesperson of the US State Department summarized.

The situation at the ZANP

We will remind that earlier the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that there

are currently about 500 armed Russian invaders on the territory of Zaporizhzhya NPP

.

"Could there be an explosion? Depends on the people inside," he said.

Let's add that the

occupiers are mining the river banks in the Kherson region and are trying to switch the ZANP to the Russian energy system

.

international partners do not yet know when the Russians can leave the Zaporizhzhia NPP
