"We continue the change

Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev presented their political project "We continue the change"" submitted a draft decision to initiate meetings with Romania and Greece for negotiations with the EC to adapt the requirements and goals for the energy transition.

We remind you that already in December 2020 we called on the caretaker government to start immediate negotiations with the EC to adapt the deadlines for reducing carbon emissions to the new energy environment after the start of the war, reports the party's press office.

We think, in order to reflect the consequences of the war and the threats to the energy security of the region, that the three countries can renegotiate the recorded commitments - through the new instrument that the EC launched in response to the new reality - REPowerEU.

The draft decision envisages that the parliament obliges the government to start preparations and conduct negotiations with the European Commission for the rescheduling of the decarbonisation commitments provided for in the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Along with this, the government must negotiate the best possible conditions for our country in the sector in accordance with the measures and opportunities for financial support under REPowerEU.

Asen Vasilev and Zhecho Stankov cleaned up a shocking scandal, the media grabbed their heads

We also recall the chronology of the commitments that Bulgaria has undertaken in recent years to reduce its carbon emissions:

- 2020. Boyko Borisov

Boyko Metodiev Borisov is the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria. He was born on June 13, 1959. He agreed with the EU to close coal plants: "We are closing coal in 2030 and reducing emissions by 55%" /you can see a video here/

- 2022 "We continue the change

Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev presented their political project "We continue the change"" managed to renegotiate the promised: "We are not closing coal and reducing emissions by 40%"

- Borisov, 2022: "PPs are killing coal plants"

- "We continue the change

Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev presented their political project "Continuing the change", 2022: "Working with Romania and Greece to use the energy crisis from the war in Ukraine for a new renegotiation of the terms to save Bulgarian coal as a pillar of the whole region "

PVU and Bulgaria's commitments

PP want a hearing of the energy minister because of the signed agreement with Turkey

The national PVU has a difficult history - several failed attempts, revisions, different versions - in its accounts we saw billions for styrofoam and steam-gas plants.

On May 4, 2022, when the decisions depended on the "Petkov" cabinet, the plan was approved from the very first time.

On August 31, 2022, the first request for payment for BGN 2.7 billion was already sent. The EC defined the PVO submitted by the "Petkov" cabinet as "exclusive".

Protecting our energy independence, a smooth and sustainable energy transition, new investments, social measures and preserving jobs in the energy sector - this is a priority of "Continuing the change"

Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev presented their political project "We continue the change"" and it should be everyone's priority.

Therefore, even at the beginning of his administration

, "We continue the change

Kiril Petkov and Asen Vasilev presented their political project "We are continuing the change"" corrects the PVU with one goal - to remove the commitments already made before the EC to close 1.4 GW of coal-fired plants and build steam-gas plants dependent on imported fuels

.

Quick action was also needed - because of the difficult legacy and the accumulated delay, especially because of the refusal of the GERB government

GERB is a center-right populist, conservative and pro-European political party in submitting the NPVU for evaluation after a year of work on it.

This also led to the loss of unconditional advance financing for the economy.

What did we get under the Plan, what was left to us as a legacy?

• 1.4 GW mandatory decommissioning of coal-fired thermal power plants without any flexibility and for an extremely short period of time

• Lack of investment and technological neglect of Mini "Maritsa East"

• TPP "Maritsa Iztok - 2" accumulated huge losses every year and its work regime was determined by orders of the Minister of Energy

• Deadline 2038 in the energy strategy of GERB

GERB is a center-right populist, conservative and pro-European political party in the final year of operation of the Maritsa East Mini complex, as well as a commitment to the EC for a 55% reduction in carbon emissions compared to 2020 levels. It was key to take 2019 as a base , and not the significantly lower one due to the 2020 pandemic.
