On January 5, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko, signed amendments to the law on citizenship, which, in particular, provide for the deprivation of citizenship in case of participation in extremist activities.

This was reported in the press service of the self-proclaimed leader of the Republic of Belarus.

According to the amendments to the law, it is possible to deprive a person of Belarusian citizenship acquired by birth.

Yes, Belarusian citizenship can be revoked if there is a court verdict on a person's participation in 

"extremist activities"

 or

causing "severe damage to the interests of Belarus"

, if such a person is outside the country.

In addition, the amendments to the law envisage clarification of the circle of persons who acquired the citizenship of Belarus by birth, as well as the

obligation to take an oath

by those who acquire the citizenship of the country.

Also, citizens of the Republic of Belarus must inform the competent authorities about the presence of citizenship of a foreign state, a residence permit or other document that gives the right to receive benefits and advantages in such a state.

We will remind, in Belarus, men of draft age began to be summoned to the military commissariats "to clarify their credentials";
