Valery Meladze

hastened to make excuses for his words, which he said on New Year's Eve during a corporate party in Dubai.

removing the microphone, barely audible, answered "Glory to the heroes."

After that, the performer began to be "cancelled" in Russia, he is demanded to be recognized as a "foreign agent" and deprived of all titles and citizenship.

In turn, Meladze quickly published a post on Instagram, where he explained that "not everything is so clear-cut" and talked about "fraternal nations" and the "conflict" between them:

"People, I want you to hear me and understand my words. For 10 months now, I, like many other people, have been living with a sense of heaviness and grief. It so happened that the peoples dearly loved by me are in a conflict in which they are dying people. I can't and don't want to hate anyone, and I don't try to please anyone. I only dream that antagonism ends and harmony is established between close peoples. And for this I am ready to give all my strength," Meladze commented on his words in Dubai .

We will remind that on New Year's Eve Valery Meladze performed at a corporate party in Dubai.

There, one of those present in the hall shouted "Glory to Ukraine", to which Meladze reacted.

He removed the microphone from his mouth and quietly said "Glory to the heroes", then said "shh" and emphasized that "the evening is out of politics".

It should be noted that on February 24, the day of the Russian Federation's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Valery Meladze, who spent his student years in Mykolaiv, recorded an emotional video in which he called for an end to hostilities.

At the same time, the artist said: "We have a tongue. Say it like it is! Putin attacked Ukraine! All of Ukraine! We don't need Russia! There is no one to save us from, only Russia!".

But, literally in a matter of minutes, Meladze uploaded the video, from which at least some mention of Putin disappeared and a text appeared that both sides "must sit down at the negotiating table."

In addition, the artist turned off comments on the video.

Although they were active before that.

was put on the "list of undesirable persons" in Russia and "lost everything"

.

In July 2022,

an unofficial "list of banned artists

" appeared in Russia, which included Russian musicians who supported Ukraine.

In particular, the names of Boris Grebenshchikov, Zemfira and Valery Meladze appeared in the list.

However, taking into account the fact that Meladze continued to live and work in Russia, he changed his opinion and attitude towards the full-scale war in Ukraine, which was unleashed by Russia.
