A Ukrainian was detained in Poland, who was transporting unusual contraband - five falcons, which he caught and tried to transport abroad to sell.

The National Tax Inspectorate of Poland writes about this.

According to the Polish authority, 5 falcons were found in the possession of a 57-year-old Ukrainian at the checkpoint in Medica, which were transported in terrible conditions - with tied wings, claws and beaks.

In order for the birds to behave quietly, they were probably given sleeping pills.

This species is under protection in Poland due to the threat of extinction.

One such falcon costs several hundred thousand zlotys.

Probably, the Ukrainian wanted to sell the birds on the black market.

"Perhaps the birds were recently captured from the wild, as evidenced by the lack of animal domestication.

These falcons are found in Finland and Norway and migrate over Ukraine, near Odessa.

Employees of the tax inspectorate transported them to the animal rehabilitation center, where they will stay until the court's decision," the message reads.

A Ukrainian faces up to 5 years in prison for smuggling falcons.

They also want to punish him for the cruel treatment of birds.

It will be recalled that a package left in front of the house of one of the families exploded in the Polish village of Sechebozhycy.

As a result, the 31-year-old woman was seriously injured - the right hand of the Polish woman was amputated, and the left one was wounded, and the struggle to preserve her sight continues.
