A girl is the first baby of 2023 born in Cherven Bryag.

This was announced by Polya Krasteva, director of the "Administrative-legal and information service" directorate in the municipal administration.

Little Plamena is the second child in the family of Tsvetoslava Irzhik - Georgieva and Dimitar Dimitrov.

She took her first breaths in the municipal hospital of Cherven Bryag on January 2 at 1:20 p.m. in the hands of Dr. Venyamin Kozlev and midwife Ani Boeva.

The girl weighs 3630 grams and is 52 cm tall.

The first baby of Cherven Bryag was painted today by the mayor of the municipality, Dr. Tsvetan Kostadinov, who presented gifts for Plamena and flowers for her mother.

"As a doctor and mayor, I have always said that obstetrics is the most difficult, but also the most noble specialty. I am glad and congratulate you that in these difficult times you managed to preserve the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of the hospital and thus give a chance to more very happy parents to hug their healthy babies here," says Dr. Kostadinov in an address to the medics. 

Last year, 92 babies were born in the hospital in Cherven Bryag.

The medical facility reports an increase in births and hopes that this trend will continue.

A boy is the first baby for 2023 in Smolyan

Polya Krasteva recalled that the Municipal Council in the city adopted an ordinance to grant one-time financial assistance to families from Cherven Bryag municipality, whose children were born in the local hospital.

To stimulate the birth rate and the raising of children in the municipality in 2022, a total of BGN 19,500 was paid for newborns.

The multi-specialty hospital for active treatment in Cherven Bryag is a medical facility with 100 percent municipal participation, with six operating wards for active treatment and a dialysis treatment unit.

The hospital has 80 beds for treating patients.
