Li Nan used a lighter to set fire to newspapers, toilet paper and other commodities at his residence in Minxiong Township. Li Nan's sister was so angry that he called the police. The police arrived at 4:00 p.m. and arrested Li Nan. He was transferred to the Chiayi District Prosecutor's Office on suspicion of public danger. In the afternoon, I applied to the Chiayi District Court for approval of the detention.

Minxiong Police in Jiaxian County received a report yesterday afternoon that Li Nan, who lives with his mother and sister, has been unemployed for a long time. Yesterday, he asked his mother, who is over 80 years old, for money but was refused. He lost his temper and took a lighter and set fire to newspapers, toilet paper and other items , and threatened to burn the locomotive. When the police arrived at the scene, they saw a pile of newspapers and toilet paper in front of his house being ignited. The prosecution re-examined and believed that Li Nan was suspected of committing crimes of public danger, intimidation and endangering safety, and that he was in danger of recidivism. Today, he applied to the Chiayi District Court for detention.

The Chiayi District Court stated that although Li Nan confessed to committing the crime, his confessions were inconsistent. However, the witnesses’ descriptions of the items seized by the police and the photos of the scene can be used as evidence. They believe that Li Nan’s crime is serious, and other flammable objects were placed in the place where the fire was set. If it is not extinguished in time, the consequences will be disastrous.

The judge considered that Li Nan did not have a job to pay off his debts, and he set fire to and threatened his mother when he refused to ask for money, and there had been instances of refusal to ask for money and arson before the case occurred. Yu; after reviewing the above-mentioned circumstances, and considering the protection of Li's personal freedom and public interests, he believes that it is necessary to detain him and should be detained.
