Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said today that his country will take revenge for the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani three years ago, France Press reported.

A charismatic and popular figure in Iran, Soleimani was killed in a US strike in Baghdad on January 3, 2020.

"We have not forgotten and will not forget the blood of martyr Soleimani," Raisi said as thousands of people marked the third anniversary of the top Iranian commander's death.

He warned the "murderers and organizers" of the attack that "revenge for the blood of the martyr Soleimani is imminent and that those who committed the murder will not be able to sleep easily."

Iran urges the UN to pass a resolution condemning the killing of Gen.

Last year, Raisi held former US President Donald Trump responsible for the general's murder and threatened revenge if he was not held accountable.

However, it seems that Trump is not the only American on the list, notes AFP.

Iran has "identified and indicted 154 people, including 96 American citizens," Iranian judiciary spokesman Masoud Setayeshi said.

In 2020, Trump said that he ordered the drone strike in response to a number of attacks against US interests in Iraq and that more similar ones were expected, BTA notes.
