The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
Iran,
Nasser Kanaani, called the statements about Russia's support in its war against Ukraine "baseless accusations".
This is reported by Xinhua.
"Iran is not a participant in the conflict in Ukraine, and baseless accusations against Iran will not help solve the problem," he said.
According to him, Iranian and Ukrainian officials exchanged views on the allegations, and no one could find evidence.
"Iran's defense cooperation (with other countries) is based on common interests and is carried out in accordance with international laws and regulations," Kanaani said, adding that defense cooperation between Iran and Russia was carried out until February 24, 2022.
He noted that the Ukrainian authorities should stop making "baseless and false accusations" against Iran, but consider appropriate ways to resolve the crisis.
Iranian kamikaze drones in the war against Ukraine
Russia uses
drones
to attack residential buildings, energy infrastructure facilities, and the civilian population of Ukraine.
Iran has always denied its involvement in the supply of weapons to Russia.
However, in early November, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian admitted for the first time that
his country had supplied Russia with drones,
insisting that the transfer took place before the start of the war in Ukraine.
In an evening address on January 2, the President of Ukraine warned that
Russia is planning a new long-term attack by Iranian "martyrs".
Military expert Oleksandr Musienko also noted that the aggressor Russia's army
during night strikes on Ukraine mainly uses Iranian
Shahed kamikaze drones, and more often strikes with cruise missiles during the day.
