Lack of quorum prevented an extraordinary session of the Municipal Council in Plovdiv for the future of the Plovdiv International Fair.

Out of 51 municipal councilors, 19 registered at the meeting today.

The request for an extraordinary session was initiated by advisers from different political forces, in order to re-vote the decision on how to vote for the representative of the Plovdiv Municipality at the upcoming General Meeting of Shareholders of the "Paldin Tourinvest" company, scheduled for January 9.

The main point is to increase the capital of the company by contributing to it the 29 percent of the Fair owned by the municipality of Varna.

After the transfer, businessman Georgi Gergov's share in the exhibition center is expected to grow to 79.36 percent, and the municipality of Plovdiv to reduce its 25 percent stake to 20.64 percent.

At the end of November, the councilors refused the contribution, but despite this, Georgi Gergov tried to enter it in the Commercial Register.

The Municipality of Plovdiv filed a case in the District Court - Plovdiv, blocking the registration, and the Court of Appeal confirmed the suspension of the registration proceedings.

This was followed by a proposal from the businessman to transfer to the municipality of Plovdiv two percent of the shares and six acres of "International Fair - Plovdiv", if the administration approves the contribution of the shares of the municipality of Varna to "Paldin Turinvest" AD.

Thus, at the session on December 19, the councilors decided to vote "for" all points of the general meeting.

The co-chairman of "Democratic Bulgaria" and MP Hristo Ivanov told journalists that he will seek responsibility from Boyko Borisov for what is happening, in all political ways.

This is not just a case related to one property or municipality, it is a significant case on a national level as well, noted Ivanov.

Gergov mastered the Plovdiv fair

In his words, he is an illustration of how Russian influence and corruption in Bulgaria unite to stop the country's development and loot it.

We see how GERB are hiding from taking a clear decision, with which to determine the will of the Municipal Council not to endow the Plovdiv fair to Gergov, declared Ivanov.

According to him, the case is a test for all claims of Euro-Atlanticism.

He recalled Georgi Gergov's proposal, but did not categorically state whether he approved it.

The fair belongs to the people of Plovdiv and will stay here, added the mayor.

Citizens were present in the hall of the Municipal Council, who insisted that the Fair should not be "gifted" to Gergov and chanted "resignation".

Municipal councilors again submitted a request for a new extraordinary session with the same proposal for January 9, before the General Assembly of "Paldin Tourinvest" JSC.
