A 19-year-old Canadian man has been arrested and charged for making death threats and threats of a terrorist nature on Twitter aimed at parliament and embassies in Canada, AFP reported, citing Canadian police.

In particular, the young man made threats against the Chinese and US embassies in Ottawa.

He threatened to attack in addition to Parliament and Canada's Ministry of Defence.

"All threats made to the public are taken very seriously, including rumors on social media," said Pascal Erber, a spokesman for the national security unit of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
