European countries are gradually changing aid rules.

The changes concern primarily the amount of payments, living conditions and payment for public transport.

Poland - payment for places of temporary accommodation

About 80,000 Ukrainian refugees live in camps, hostels, boarding houses and recreation centers in Poland. 

According to the law, in 2023

Ukrainians will be able to live for free in such places of temporary accommodation only for the first 120 days from the moment of arrival in Poland.

After that, you will have to pay for accommodation:

  • From March 2023, citizens of Ukraine who live in such places in Poland for more than 120 days will have to pay 50% of the funds for accommodation, but no more than 40 zlotys per day (over 300 UAH).

  • From May 2023, it will be necessary to cover 75% of the cost of accommodation - but no more than 60 zlotys per day (500 UAH).

  • Vulnerable categories of citizens are exempted from payment: disabled persons of retirement age, pregnant women, women with children under one year old, women with three or more children, persons in difficult situations.

From April 1, 2023, Ukrainian refugees, if they are officially working or have opened their own business, will be able to apply for a temporary residence permit in Poland,

Germany - the amount of aid to refugees will increase

From January 1, 2023, Germany will increase the amount of assistance that Ukrainian refugees will receive on an equal basis with Germans.

The amount of payments will increase by 40-50 euros per month.

Hartz IV unemployment benefits will become part of the basic income of citizens.

As before, Ukrainians will be able to enter Germany without a visa and stay there for up to 90 days without a residence permit.

To obtain a residence permit for temporary protection, an application must be submitted within 90 days after the first entry into the country.

They accept Ukrainians in 6 federal states and settle them in refugee centers until they find better temporary housing.

Czech Republic - payments of humanitarian aid to refugees

 From January 1, 2023, payments in the Czech Republic will change in accordance with the changed subsistence minimum

In 2022, humanitarian aid for Ukrainians amounted to 5,000 kroner.

According to the new rules, in 2023, the

allowance for adults should amount to 4,860 kroner, and for children - 3,490 kroner. 

People over 65 and adults with disabilities will receive 7,290 kroner, and children with disabilities - 5,235 kroner.

Free travel is canceled in the capital of Slovakia

In Bratislava, starting from the new year,

free travel for Ukrainians in public transport will be canceled

- Ukrainians with temporary protection will lose the right to free travel in buses, electric trains, and trolleybuses.

The possibility to use free public transport remains valid on the day of receipt of SLOVAK HELP or "Temporary Shelter" documents and during the following 4 days, which are standard throughout Slovakia for rail and suburban transport.

Free travel in Riga was extended

Ukrainian refugees in the capital of Latvia will be able to travel for free

in public transport

until June 30, 2023 .

This applies to travel in Riga trams, trolleybuses and buses.

The Netherlands - payments in a new way

Payments for Ukrainian refugees who do not work will be changed

in the Netherlands

.

From 1 February 2023, the payment of the monthly cash benefit for the whole family may be reduced if an adult family member receives income from work or benefits.

93 euros per person per month will be allocated to reimburse host families.

This amount will be the same for adults and children.

Great Britain - there are fewer and fewer housing options

Although the conditions for Ukrainian refugees will not officially change in Britain in 2023, there are fewer and fewer options for housing, more and more Ukrainians find themselves on the streets and turn to local authorities for resettlement.

As before, it will be possible to come to the country under the "Houses for Ukraine" program - a visa will be issued if a sponsor is found in Britain who will host Ukrainians for a minimum period of 6 months.

Also, Ukrainians can get a visa to Great Britain for reunification with family members who are already temporarily residing, such a visa can be obtained for a maximum of 3 years.
