On January 2, on the birthday of Major General Polad Hashimov, the National Hero of Azerbaijan, his grave was visited.
According to the information given to APA by the Ministry of Defense, a group of officers of the Ministry, participants of the Patriotic War, representatives of the public, as well as family members of the National Hero took part in the ceremony.
On behalf of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, bouquets of flowers were placed on the grave of the martyr at the commemoration ceremony, and his memory was commemorated with respect and reverence.
It should be noted that Major General P. Hashimov was born on January 2, 1975 in Vandam village of Gabala district.
Since he moved to Sumgait with his family, he received secondary education in Sumgait schools number 28 and 34.
Then he entered the current Heydar Aliyev Military Institute in order to tie his fate to the military profession and successfully graduated from this special educational institution.
P.Hashimov, who rose from the platoon commander to the high military rank of "major general", served in the front regions and made an effort to properly fulfill the orders and assignments.
According to the relevant decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev dated April 20, 2016, P. Hashimov for his special services in preserving the territorial integrity of our country during the April 2016 battles and distinguished himself when performing the tasks assigned to the Azerbaijan Army. He was awarded the 3rd degree "For service to the country" order.
On June 24, 2019, Polad Hashimov was awarded the high military rank of "major general" by the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
On July 14, 2020, P. Hashimov was heroically martyred while preventing enemy provocations in the direction of Tovuz region.
He was awarded the honorary title "National Hero of Azerbaijan" after his death by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 9, 2020.
