On Monday, January 2, Ukrainian border guards fought two fierce battles defending Bakhmut.

The Russian occupiers suffered losses.

This was reported in the press service of the DPSU.

One battle took place near the settlement of Pidhorodne, it lasted more than four hours - from 12:30 to 16:50.

"A group of 30 Russians tried to storm the positions of our defenders. According to preliminary information, seven enemy soldiers were killed and another nine were wounded. At the same time, there were no losses in the ranks of the Armed Forces," the message reads.

Another battle took place in the area of ​​the Bakhmut landfill - from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

"Ukrainian border guards, together with a unit of the SSO, destroyed two observation points of the Russian military in the interval from 16:00 to 17:00. The losses of the occupiers - five "200", three "300" were confirmed by the aerial reconnaissance of the Special Operations Forces", - reported in the DPSU.

The border guards also showed a video of the battles fought by fighters in the Bakhmut direction before the New Year.

It will be recalled that on Saturday, December 31, 23 combat clashes took place in the direction of Bakhmut with the occupiers who are trying to capture the city.

According to the estimates of the Ukrainian military, more than 170 Russians did not live to see the new year, and about 200 more were wounded.
