Tomorrow, January 3, is the

day of memory of Metropolitan Peter

in the Orthodox calendar .

He was born in Volyn in a pious family and took monastic vows at a young age.

Then he left the monastery to found his monastery, which was formed on the river Rati.

He became famous thanks to his exploits.

In 1308, the Patriarch of Constantinople elevated Metropolitan Peter to the Russian Metropolitanate.

It was not easy for him, because he had to convince people to convert to the Christian faith under the Tatar yoke.

He died in 1326.

In his honor there is a national holiday on January 3 - Petro-polukorm.

The church holiday of January 3 is the day of memory of the martyr Iuliana

She was born in Nicodymia in a pagan family.

When the girl was 9 years old, she was betrothed to her husband.

However, due to her sharp mind and shrewdness, she was able to understand the deception of the pagan faith in time and converted to Christianity.

Iuliana secretly received baptism.

When her wedding day came, the girl refused to go under the crown.

The father brutally beat his daughter, and then he also took the bishop, who was her fiancé, to court.

He persuaded Iuliana to go through the wedding ceremony and even promised that he would not force her to change her faith.

However, the girl believed that it was better to accept the torment.

The saint was tortured for a long time, but the Lord healed all her wounds at once.

Seeing such a miracle, men and women began to believe in God and profess Christianity.

All of them were martyred together with her.
