[Instant News/Comprehensive Report] U.S. Secretary of State Blinken (Antony Blinken) tweeted earlier that he had a phone call with Qin Gang, who had just been appointed as China’s foreign minister, and the two sides discussed U.S.-China relations during the phone call.

China appointed Qin Gang, its ambassador to the United States, as foreign minister on December 30 last year, replacing Wang Yi, who had served as China's foreign minister for the past 10 years. Wang Yi was promoted to a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China in October last year.

Qin Gang previously served as Director of the Information Department, Director of the Protocol Department, and Deputy Minister of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was transferred to the Chinese Ambassador to the United States in 2021. He is a close friend of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
