The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that on New Year's Eve, Ukrainian defenders shot down 45 Iranian drones.

He emphasized that Russian terrorists, as pathetic as they were, have remained so. 

He said this on January 1 during his address to Ukrainians. 

"New year, new day, new results. 45 Shahed-136 shot down on the first night of the year. Thanks to our Air Force - pilots, anti-aircraft guns. 33 Shahed-136 on their account. Thanks to the air defense of our Ground Forces for another 12 downed Iranian drones. Well done, guys! The Russian terrorists were pathetic, and that's how they entered this year. Our defenders were well done, and on January 1 they showed themselves very well," the president emphasized. 

Volodymyr Zelenskyy added that Ukrainians have mentally moved far away from the Russian Federation. 

"Our sense of unity, authenticity, life itself - all this is in such contrast with the fear that prevailed in Russia. They are afraid. You can feel it. And they are rightly afraid. Because they will lose

Drones, missiles, everything else will not help them. Because we are together. And they are only together with fear. And they will not take away from Ukraine, they will not take away our independence. We will not give them anything," the president explained. 

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Ukrainian defenders who are responsible for the occupiers for terrorist attacks on Ukrainian cities. 

"I thank everyone who this night, and every day and every night, is hitting the enemy at the front! For every Russian attack on Kherson, Nikopol, Kharkiv Oblast, and all our cities and communities, we respond to the occupiers. It is very tangible for them. I thank all our energy, utilities for stable energy supply and minimal outages - taking into account all existing circumstances. Wherever transmission lines and other energy facilities are damaged by shelling, restoration continues 24 hours a day. Today, too. And it is very important how all Ukrainians fueled their internal energy this New Year's Eve. And how we thanked our soldiers. How we thanked our loved ones. How millions of times throughout Ukraine, throughout the free world, our wish sounded and still sounds - a wish for victory," the president said. 

Attack on Ukraine on New Year's Eve 

Russian terrorists attacked Ukraine with Iranian Shahed-136 drones on New Year's Eve.

Because of this, a long air alert was announced in the capital. 

Ukrainian defenders shot down all the drones.

According to preliminary data, there are no casualties due to the shelling of the Russian Federation. 

The occupying Ministry of Defense has already managed to find justifications for terrorist attacks on Ukraine.

They said that they allegedly "destroyed a defense enterprise that manufactures Ukrainian attack drones."
