Yuriy Ignat, the spokesman
of the Air Force of the
Ukrainian Armed Forces, said that on the evening of December 31, the air defense forces destroyed 13 enemy drones.
And at night until 4:00, another 32 Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones, which the enemy calls "geraniums", were shot down.
He announced this on the air of the national telethon on January 1.
He also thanked all Ukrainian soldiers who defended the Ukrainian sky at night.
"All 45 drones that were directed at Ukrainians, at our land, were destroyed. This is a very serious result. We can see that the sky was under reliable protection," Yuriy Ignat said.
According to him, our soldiers barely had time to reload NASAMS artillery and shoot down enemy missiles.
Ignat also emphasized that we have enough missiles, but the complexes themselves are not enough.
"I would also like to acknowledge the help of our partners. There should be such a sign-signal for them, because our servicemen barely had time to reload NASAMS. Probably no one has such experience in using this air defense system to reload the complex and destroy air targets during the battle. This another signal to our partners - how skillfully and effectively our specialists, who were trained only a few weeks ago, can use foreign-made combat equipment in such combat conditions," said the spokesman of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
