[Reporter Chen Xinyu/Taipei Report] New Year's Day air transport chaos, EVA flight crew dissatisfied with only one month at the end of the year, recently collectively asked for leave and did not go to work to express protest, about 37 flights were paralyzed today, about 3053 passengers were affected, and the impact may continue to expand.

EVA Aviation, a subsidiary of EVA Air, is responsible for ground handling operations such as ramp service, cabin service, and cabin cleaning. However, last Thursday, December 30, the year-end pocket was only one month old, not as good as the parent company EVA Air’s three-month level. The group has been asking for leave for a week. Today, more than 200 people have asked for leave, and the luggage is piled up like a mountain and no one is loading and unloading.

The employees said that this is a voluntary action. If the company does not pay the end of the year for 3 months, they will continue to ask for leave on the busy days of the flight.

According to statistics from Taoyuan International Airport Corporation, EVA Air's flights were delayed. As of 3:00 p.m. today, a total of 37 outbound flights and 22 inbound flights were delayed, and about 3,053 passengers were affected.

EVA air crew has about 1,000 to 2,000 employees. During the epidemic period, due to the increased risk of infection, the increased workload due to the busy cargo, and being poached by the newly established Xingyu Airlines, there has been a large loss of manpower. Up to now, there are still recruitment announcements on the website, recruiting ground staff Operators, laundry operators, maintenance personnel, etc., have an average salary of about 30,000 yuan.

Although EVA Airline has more than 1,000 employees, it does not organize a labor union. The EVA Airline Enterprise Labor Union also issued a statement today in support, calling on the airline staff to work together to strive for reasonable working conditions; and the China Airlines subsidiary "Taoyuan Airline" also Affected, EVA Air and Taoyuan Airport Company requested manpower support, and today also issued a statement saying, "Request the management not to intervene in emergencies of other ground handling operators", and said that Taoqin Company has already had many major labor disputes. Take care of one and lose the other.”

An unnamed employee revealed that the year-end bonus of Evergreen Group will be issued on December 30th. The one-month year-end of the EVA air service was even more bitter, and many people offered to resign one after another.

Some employees pointed out that the parent group’s rate of return has hit a record high, not without making money, and even Xingyu Airlines, which is still losing money, has 10,000 yuan at the end of the year. In comparison, the flight crew is even more bitter.

Last year's year-end bonus was only 10,000 yuan, but it was only 20,000 yuan after reflection. During the epidemic period, the cargo was busy and the workload of cabin cargo increased greatly. The company's Taoyuan flight crew has been negotiated by the management for benefits, but the status of the flight crew has been "unreadable" by the company.

Some employees said that if the company does not announce the year-end increase to 3 months, the situation of asking for leave will continue, and they will "voluntarily" express their protests during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday and 228 consecutive leave.

Some employees pointed out that in fact, when the year-end bonus was only 10,000 yuan last year, some employees were planning to ask for leave at the end of the year.

This year's New Year's Day has a large number of people going out and passenger traffic is gradually recovering, so it is obvious that flights have been affected.

EVA flight crew members were dissatisfied with only receiving one month of year-end benefits. Recently, they collectively asked for leave and refused to report to protest. About 37 flights were paralyzed today, and about 3,053 passengers left the country. The impact may continue to expand.

The picture shows that the luggage is piled up like a mountain and no one is loading and unloading.
