Croatia has joined the Eurozone and the Schengen zone since January 1, 2023.

According to the report of APA with reference to "Le Matin" website, Croatia was the 20th country of the Eurozone and the 27th of the Schengen zone.

Since 01.00 (04.00 Baku time), 73 checkpoints on the border with European countries have stopped working.

Citizens of the Schengen zone have free passage to the country.

However, the Schengen regime will be applied at the airports from March.

As of today, the country's currency, the kuna, has also been withdrawn from circulation.

The euro was developed in parallel with the kuna for 2 years.

According to the latest statistics, 80% of deposits and trade transactions are made in euros.

By joining the Eurozone and the Schengen zone, the Croatian government wants to facilitate tourism, which is the main source of income.

Due to passport control, long queues formed at the border crossing points in the summer season.

At the same time, the government plans to reduce inflation by joining the Eurozone.
