[Instant News/Comprehensive Report] As the Ukrainian-Russian war enters 2023, there is still no end in sight.

Jens Stoltenberg, secretary-general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), said bluntly that Russian President Vladimir Putin has not given up his ambition to control Ukraine, and everyone must be prepared to go through a "long and difficult journey."

The fastest way to reach peace is to continue military assistance to Ukraine.

"The Guardian" reported that Stoltenberg said in an interview with the media that there is no sign that Putin will change the overall goal of the war, which is to control Ukraine.

He believes that Russia has mobilized many new military forces, showing its will to suffer huge losses.

"It's not over yet, wars are unpredictable, but we have to be prepared for a long, difficult journey and a new Russian offensive. We should not underestimate Russia," Stoltenberg said.

Stoltenberg also called on allies to fully support Ukraine, in order to let Putin understand that he cannot achieve the goal of controlling Ukraine, "It may sound contradictory, but military support for Ukraine is the fastest way to peace. We know that most wars end up at the negotiating table, and probably the Ukrainian-Russian war as well. But we also know that Ukraine’s ability to negotiate is inextricably linked to their military performance.”
