Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar did not rule out the possibility of Ankara and Damascus conducting a joint operation against PKK/YPG terrorists in northern Syria.
According to APA's report citing Hurriyet newspaper, Hulusi Akar said this while answering the question about the results of his meeting with his Syrian counterpart Ali Mahmud Abbas in Moscow on December 28 in the presence of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
The Turkish defense minister said that if Turkey and Syria overcome the problems in defense and security through negotiations, a joint operation is possible: "Turkey will do everything to protect its rights, interests and security, as always."
It should be noted that Turkey considers it important to clear the 30 km wide area along the Syrian borders from PKK/YPG terrorists.
