In Europe, they give an example of Burgas in the application of the approach for integrated territorial investment, realizing a complete product through various sources of financing.

It is a question of several separate, connected and upgrading projects, united in one product, financed by different programs and different funds, thanks to which the municipality built a new place for tourism and entertainment in the Burgas Bay.

This is the "Chengene Skele" cultural-tourist complex, Vesna Baltina, deputy mayor of Burgas Municipality with the department "Strategic Development and Ecology, Digitalization and Adaptation to Climate Change", told BTA.

She explained that the investments for the realization of the newest cultural and touristic destination in Burgas are both under the "Development of the Regions" Program and under cohesion policy programs.

The cultural-tourist complex "Chengene Skele" is located in the immediate vicinity to the north of the fishing village of the same name, built in the 70s of the 20th century.

According to one of the projects, a new pier was built in the fishing village, according to the second, ethnographic houses were built to preserve and popularize the originality of the village.

The third - "The Power of Water" is the most large-scale and amounts to nearly BGN 10,000,000, Baltina pointed out.

It was implemented with combined support - a grant from the Operational Program "Regions in Growth" 2014-2020 and a loan from the Fund for Sustainable Cities, with funds from which the infrastructure of the new cultural and tourist complex was realized, a multifunctional hall for exhibitions and events was built , park space and a children's playground, the new municipal catamaran "Burgus" was purchased, which has been making sea trips to the tourist complex for a year, said Baltina.

As part of this project, exhibition houses were built, which house permanent exhibitions and interactive installations presenting the fishing life.

There is also a designated area nearby for outdoor expositions and demonstrations, as well as for the placement of various exhibits from the fishing lifestyle.

There you can watch demonstrations such as weaving nets, entanglement of ropes and sea knots, tasting traditional foods and presenting their beliefs and legends.

For the purposes of the project, an advertising-historical film was also made about Chengene Skele Bay and the fishing village of the same name.

In three languages, the film presents the remarkable history of the area and new forms of tourism that are developing there.

Since the opening of the complex in June 2021, hundreds have passed through the museum, and the total number of visitors is over 20,000.

According to local residents, fishermen first settled there in 1971, after they were evicted from the Burgas port with their boats due to the expansion of the port.

When they came, they found a bare and desolate place, but with the richest catch of fish.

Today, in the immediate vicinity of the fishing village, the Municipality of Burgas has built its newest attraction for the citizens of Burgas and the guests of the city, where the interesting history of the fishing village, as well as of the most ancient livelihood by the sea - fishing comes to life.

There will be free public transport in Burgas on New Year's Eve
