Patna:

The counting of votes for the Bihar body elections began on Friday morning amid tight security arrangements.

A senior officer gave this information.

In the polling held on Wednesday, the political fate of 11,127 candidates in 23 districts of the state was sealed in EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines).

Bihar State Election Commission official said, "The counting of votes cast in the elections held in 17 municipal corporations including Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), two municipal councils and 49 town panchayats began at 8 am at 68 counting centres." Said, “These centers are under multi-layered security cordon.

The result is expected in the afternoon.

Sporadic incidents of violence had affected polling in the urban local body elections in the state.

In these elections, out of about 62 lakh voters of the state, 57.17 percent had exercised their franchise.
