The Directorate for Citizenship and Migration Affairs of Latvia decided not to revoke the visas of the employees of the Russian TV channel "Dozhd", whose license was previously revoked.
This is reported by the DELFI portal.
The publication states that after the Russian mass media was deprived of the opportunity to broadcast in Latvia, the Directorate of Citizenship and Migration Affairs conducted an assessment of the workers' work visas.
Documents issued to journalists entitle them to work on the territory of the country for a year.
After examining the visas of Dozhdya employees, the agency concluded that the journalists can continue to live and work in the country.
The Department explained that they cannot cancel the validity of the visa if the purpose of the visit to the country remains unchanged.
The representatives of the TV channel emphasized that they are currently engaged in the creation of information content for social networks and digital channels.
Dozhda also emphasized that the officially stated purpose of their stay in Lithuania is still employment.
