78% of Ukrainians believe that the state should regulate the activities of the UOC (MP) to one degree or another.

This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

Of them, 54% believe that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) should be completely banned.

The other 24% are in favor of a "softer" approach, which does not involve a complete ban, but involves the establishment of state control and supervision.

Only 12% of respondents believe that the state should not interfere in the affairs of the UOC (MP), but only investigate individual possible cases of violations.

The central (62%) and western (57%) regions are most actively in favor of a complete ban on the Moscow Patriarchate.

In the south and east, 48% and 41% of respondents support a complete ban, respectively.

"Among Russian-speaking Ukrainians, support for the proactive position of the authorities regarding the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP), although somewhat lower, is also significant - 68% (including 44% who are in favor of a complete ban on this Church)," the sociologists noted.

The story of the renaming of the UOC MP

We will remind you that on December 27, the Constitutional Court recognized the law as valid, which states that the UOC MP, which does not have the prefix of belonging to the Moscow Patriarchate in its official name, must indicate its affiliation to Russia.

The spokesman of the legal department of the UOC MP replied that the law allegedly does not say anything specifically about their organization, so they will not comply with the decision of the Constitutional Court.

Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security Council, called on the UOC MP

to either recognize its affiliation with the Russian Orthodox Church, or to sever relations with it

.

In addition, it became known that the UOC MP may be "evicted" from the two main churches of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra - the Dormition and Table Cathedrals, which belong to the state.

The scandalous vicar of the Lavra, Metropolitan Pavlo, even recorded an appeal to President Zelensky, in which he complained about the Ministry of Culture.

However, Oleksandr Tkachenko remained adamant - the Ministry of Culture will not recommend that the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" continue its lease with the UOC MP.
