Bulgarians eat the most expensive butter and cheese in the entire European Union.

Oil prices in our country are nearly 90% higher than the average European prices in the EU.

This is indicated by the November bulletin of the Center for Economic Research in Agriculture (SARA), quoted by "Telegraph". 

Cheese prices in our country are almost double the average in the rest of the EU.

At the same time, raw milk is the cheapest in our country.

The trend has been going on for years, with the scissors getting wider and wider.

Record price increase of cheese and yellow cheese for the last year

Prices

The wholesale price for 100 grams of oil in our country is BGN 2.33 for November.

For comparison in the EU, this amount of the dairy product costs BGN 1.24.

On an annual basis, prices in our country have risen much more than European prices.

Oil in Bulgaria has risen in price by 37.3%, while in other European countries the increase is by 21.1%.

For the last month in Europe, there is even a 7.4% decrease in price, while the increase in prices in our country continues - the price of oil is up by another 5.8%.

The picture is similar with the yellow cheese.

In our country, a kilo of "Vitosha" yellow cheese wholesale is BGN 17.81.

A similar product - cheddar cheese, costs only BGN 9.21 on average in the EU.

In the last month alone, cheese in our country has increased in price by 3.2%, and in a year it has added as much as 45.4% to its price.

In the rest of the European countries, the price increase on a monthly basis is by 0.4%, and on an annual basis – by 42.2%.

A new rise in the prices of basic foodstuffs in our country

Raw material

At the same time, raw milk has the lowest price in our country.

In Bulgaria, a liter of the raw material costs 92 cents as of October.

And in half of the EU countries the price is above BGN.

The difference in prices can also be seen in stores in our country.

Cheese is hard to find under 35 BGN.

The promotional one costs BGN 30 per kilo, while the imported one is BGN 24, and without any discounts.
