[Central News Agency] Ukrainian Science and Technology Minister Fedorov said that the country has purchased about 1,400 drones, mostly for reconnaissance, and plans to develop fighter jets to attack the self-destruct drones Russia uses to invade Ukraine.

Mykhailo Fedorov said in an exclusive interview with the Associated Press that the Russia-Ukraine war was the first major war in the Internet age.

Drones, along with satellite networking systems such as Elon Musk's Starlink, have changed the face of the war, he said.

Ukraine has purchased drones such as Fly Eye, which are used for intelligence collection and surveillance and reconnaissance on the battlefield.

"We are now equipped with reconnaissance drones, and the next step is attack drones. This includes self-destruct drones and models that can fly 3 to 10 kilometers to attack targets," Fedorov said.

He predicted that there are more missions for attack drones in the future, but did not disclose further.

Russian authorities have accused Ukraine of launching drone strikes against Russian military bases in recent weeks, including on the 26th.

Moscow said Russian forces had shot down a drone approaching the Engels military base that day.

The Engel base is more than 600 kilometers away from the Ukrainian border.

The Russian military said three military personnel were killed in the wreckage of the drone.

However, no aircraft were damaged.

The Engels Air Force Base has parked Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic bombers capable of carrying nuclear bombs, and these two bombers participated in the bombing operations against Ukraine.
