German Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Berbock said that the
European Union
is making efforts to help Ukraine become part of it.
She called granting our country the status of a candidate for EU membership a historic moment.
Burbok stated this in an interview with the Romanian channel "Digi 24".
According to her, Ukraine's accession to the EU and NATO is currently impossible "for obvious reasons."
However, Europe sees its future together with Ukrainians.
"The road there will still be long and, of course, sometimes difficult. We are doing everything possible to support Ukraine in the process of harmonizing its legal system and standards with EU standards, thereby paving the way to accession," the head of the German Foreign Ministry emphasized.
The diplomat emphasizes that the EU must also do "its homework" in order to think of a mechanism for making decisions in the expanded union.
"That's why we support reforms. For example, the application of the qualified majority voting system in a number of issues," Burbok added.
It will be recalled that the former Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel is currently not interested in her participation in possible negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine.
She also
expressed confidence that the war will definitely end
at the negotiating table.
