In recent days, the Russian military has intensified attacks on the positions of Ukrainian border guards in the area of Krasnohorivka settlement in the Donetsk region.

However, they receive a strong repulse and retreat with heavy losses.

Andrii Demchenko, the spokesman of the State Border Service of Ukraine, said this during a briefing on Tuesday, December 27.

"All components of the Defense Forces jointly oppose Russian armed aggression. For example, in the Bakhmut direction, the border guards provided fire support to a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was repelling enemy infantry attacks. The enemy was forced to withdraw, suffering losses in killed and wounded," he said.

Demchenko also added that the enemy does not stop shelling the border of Ukraine.

According to him,

Sumy region and Chernihiv region suffer the most from enemy shelling.

What is happening near Bakhmut

Russia does not stop trying to seize Bakhmut in Donetsk region.

Thus, the command changed the terms of the occupation of the city several times due to failures.

According to the National Guardsman Andriy Kryshchenko, the Russian military was given a new deadline to

capture Bakhmut - until January 1.

Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Malyar noted that the occupiers

cannot hold the positions they have captured in Ukraine,

so they are concentrating their efforts on separate areas of the front, in particular - Bakhmut.

In Bakhmut, the Russians use prisoners of war

to get close to Ukrainian positions

.

The situation in the city is difficult.

Women, children and the elderly remain without electricity, water and heat in the front-line location.
