[Reporter Zheng Mingxiang/Taipei Report] After taking office, Taipei Mayor Jiang Wan'an mentioned trying to solve the traffic problem in Neihu every day. Taipei City Councilor Li Mingxian pointed out that the number of traffic police officers in Neihu District is only 39, ranking fourth from the bottom among the 12 administrative districts of Taipei City. The Neihu Volunteer Squadron also has a long-term shortage of 5 people. The number of traffic policemen and volunteers shows that former mayor Ke Wenzhe underestimated the traffic problems in Neihu and reminded Jiang Wan'an to make adjustments as soon as possible.

In this regard, Cai Zhenan, the head of the administrative team of the Taipei City Traffic Police Brigade, said that according to the traffic characteristics of the jurisdiction, the number of traffic accidents, and the guidance positions, the number of traffic police officers in each team will be considered comprehensively. There is a shortage of volunteers in Neihu. Prior to this, other volunteer squadrons will be dispatched to support the auxiliary service.

Li Mingxian said that Neihu transportation is an urgent municipal issue that Jiang Wanan has to solve after taking office. Jiang Wanan also visited the Taipei Police Station on the first day of work, and asked the police to cooperate with the Transportation Bureau to make short-, medium-, and long-term plans. Strengthen police force, implement clearance at intersections, etc. to strengthen law enforcement to ease traffic flow and improve traffic quality.

However, according to data, the number of traffic police officers assigned to Neihu is only 39, ranking fourth from the bottom among the 12 administrative districts, only surpassing Nangang, Beitou, and Wanhua. There is also a long-term shortage of 5 people in the Yijiao Squadron. Judging from the number of traffic police officers and the situation of the shortage of Yijiao, it shows that the former government of Keshi City said that it paid attention to solving Neihu traffic, but it was just a slogan.

Li Mingxian believes that the insufficient number of traffic police not only affects the allocation of police force at major intersections, but also delays the operation procedures if an accident occurs. At present, Zhongzheng District, a traffic hotspot, has more than 100 traffic police officers, and Daan, Xinyi, and Zhongshan also have more than 50. The brigade has 173 traffic policemen who can be dispatched. Therefore, improving the rate of seeing the police and strengthening traffic command and dispatch at intersections cannot be done on paper.

Li Mingxian believes that to completely solve the Neihu traffic problem, of course MRT and additional ramps are still needed, but the overall traffic policy can be reflected from the unreasonable allocation of the number of traffic police, reminding Jiang Wanan that he should immediately increase the number of internal traffic police and adjust overall configuration.
