Military expert Oleg Zhdanov said that the US and its allies are in no hurry to seriously help Ukraine and provide offensive weapons, because the West is not united on this issue.

The expert said this in an exclusive interview with TSN.ua.

"Not all countries support, there is no unity. Globalization destroys any idea. The more a military or political bloc grows, the more contradictions and disagreements arise in this bloc," he said.

The expert recalled that at a briefing with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the head of the White House, Joe Biden, said that more than 50 countries have committed to transfer to Ukraine almost 2,000 units of tanks and other military equipment, more than 800 artillery systems, more than two million artillery shells and more than 50 modern rockets salvo fire systems.

"NATO is just now beginning to gradually join this game and help us. But NATO will not provide us with lethal weapons until the end of the war. Military and technical property, humanitarian aid can be given. The Russian Federation sets strict conditions, they say that if NATO hands over to Ukraine, then NATO enters the war . This is what Putin is trying to achieve, but the members of the Alliance do not want to allow. That is why Biden may have said that there is a pool of countries, such as the Rammstein format, which have expressed support for Ukraine and are ready to help with lethal weapons," the expert says.

Zhdanov is convinced that Ukraine will receive the necessary tanks, fighter jets and long-range missiles in the new year.

"Now we are finishing a turning point in this war. 2023 will be the year of counteroffensive operations of the Armed Forces," he concluded.

Aid from the USA to Ukraine

It will be recalled that the President of the United States, Joe Biden, signed a record defense budget.

800 million dollars for Ukraine is foreseen in the budget.

He also confirmed the transfer of Patriot systems to Ukraine and announced new aid.

At a briefing with Zelenskyi, Biden assured that for him "it is an honor to be next to Ukraine in the united defense against the brutal war waged by Putin." 

The US Congress supported an amendment to the law on the transfer of seized Russian assets to Ukraine.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba emphasized that this is a fundamental issue of compensating Ukraine for war losses.
