The Seimas of Lithuania sent the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky an invitation to come to Vilnius in January 2023 to receive the Freedom Prize.

This is reported by LRT.

"We have already sent an official invitation and on January 13, we will see what the decision will be... Probably, it is not very realistic to expect his arrival," said the Speaker of the Seimas Viktoria Chmilite-Nilsen.

She noted that the program of celebrations is currently being drawn up, and the issue of who could present the award to Zelenskyi is being considered.

According to Chmilit-Nilsen, this time the fact that "the laureate is special" will be taken into account when compiling the program.

According to the law, the Freedom Prize is awarded in the Lithuanian Parliament during a solemn meeting dedicated to the Day of Defenders of Freedom, on January 13.

On this day, a statuette and 5 thousand euros are awarded.

Zelensky's official visit to the USA

We will remind you that during the 10 months of the Russian Federation's full-scale war against Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi made only one single visit abroad.

It was a

trip on December 22 to the USA

, where he met with his American colleague Joe Biden and spoke in Congress.

The main topic of the talks between the leaders of Ukraine and the USA was the war and military aid to Kyiv.

Prior to that, Zelenskyy, despite the offer of various states to leave for the duration of the war, did not leave the borders of Ukraine.

This was his basic position.

Instead, the president visited the hottest spots on the front line and de-occupied cities more than once.

Before his visit to Washington, Zelenskyi

visited Bakhmut

, which has been stormed by the Russians for more than one month.
