Founded in July 2014 by British blogger Elliott Higgins, the Netherlands-based site specializes in journalism based on the analysis of data available on the Internet.

Bellingcat is investigating the MH17 crash in eastern Ukraine that killed 298 people in 2014, the poisoning of double agent Sergei Skripal and opposition figure Alexei Navalny.

Recently, the site has focused on Russian military intervention in Ukraine.

Grozev: Ukraine's list of 620 Russian spies has a Bulgarian connection

At the end of July of this year, a representative of the Federal Security Service of Russia stated on the air of the Rossiya-24 television channel that Grozev was involved in an attempt to hijack combat aircraft: a Su-24 bomber, a Su-34 fighter and a supersonic missile carrier Tu-22 M3.

According to him, the operation was organized by the Security Service of Ukraine, and Grozev coordinated the actions of its participants.

Grozev was born in Plovdiv in 1969 and is a Bulgarian citizen.

Russia has declared Bellingcat a "foreign agent" media outlet, and its activities have been declared "undesirable" by the Russian Prosecutor General's Office.

In September, Grozev stated in an interview with AFP that "Belingkat" is "the Kremlin's worst nightmare".
