Udhampur:

Police on Monday seized an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district and foiled a major terror plot.

Officials said that an IED-like substance weighing about 15 kg was seized in Basantgarh area of ​​the district, which was kept in a cylindrical object.

He told that the police have also found 300-400 grams of RDX, seven cartridges of 7.62 mm and five detonators.

Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, confirmed the incident. 

According to the officials, the police have also seized a paper with coded signatures and also recovered a blank page with the mark of banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.

He said that the police have detained a suspect in connection with the seizure of explosive material.

Ramnagar SDPO Bhishma Dubey said that a case has been registered at Basantgarh police station and investigation is underway.
